The so-called "Mexican " channels Univision and Telemundo are actually US-based (the latter channel is owned by NBC Universal). There are Mexican networks operating in the States (but with modified programming for the US market i.e. TV Azteca)... The main reason for the absence of Canadian TV channels on American satellite is international copyright law. No agreements exist for cross-border TV broadcasting (and if a Canadian network wanted to start operations on this side of the border, they would have to form a partnership with an American company and offer a modified version of its programming on an US version of its network). The only Canadian network on American satellite TV is CBC Newsworld (and that, until recently, was a partnership with NBC).
